Both Wisconsinites heralding from the South central part of the state. Susan’s background is in corporate QA management while Peter is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades going back to the days when, as a teenager, he and his brother owned 100 head registered dairy herd.
When they were presented with the opportunity to start a cattle operation in the spring of 2015, they jumped. It took an entire year just to clear the land and ready it for the cattle.
“Cattle are in my blood”, says Peter. “I love it!”
As a steward of the land they were committed to raising livestock using ecologically responsible and humane practices. Operating a small cattle farm and being part of a local farm-to-table network of food producers is a dream come true for them. They’ve built their lives, their marriage and are now building their small business on principles of honesty, integrity and a willingness to serve.
So, it is for this reason they use regenerative farming techniques. Regenerative agriculture is a conservation and rehabilitation approach to food and farming systems. It focuses on topsoil regeneration, increasing biodiversity, improving the water cycle, enhancing ecosystem services, supporting biosequestration, and strengthening the health and vitality of farm soil.
